Face Taping Tutorial: Your Esthetician's Go-To Way for Applying Face Tape

If you read my previous blog post you now know exactly how facial tapes work and why we love them for helping our skin to be healthy, firm, lifted, radiant, and wrinkle-free. If you haven’t gotten a chance to read it (which I highly recommend before starting your facial tape application) I’ll list a few key details about face taping ⤵️

  • Facial taping helps reduce wrinkles by promoting healthy oxygen and nutrient flow to the area you apply it to

  • Facial taping is NOT about stretching or physically lifting the skin using tape

  • There is a proper sequence for applying and removing tape

  • You’ll need a specific K-tape made for the face. I bought mine from thenaturalfaces.com

  • Just like facial massage, when done consistently (a few times a week) you’ll start to see your wrinkle reduction and antiaging results

scrub me secret: When it comes to skincare and treatments I always feel like less is more. That is how I approach my skincare routine as well. I love gua sha and LED and I have started to like facial taping, but I do not do these skincare practices daily. I think our skin needs some time to rest, heal, and be left alone. That’s why I suggest not using facial tape daily, maybe every other day at the most.

How to prep your skin before face taping:

  • Cleanse with your preferred facial cleanser - double cleanse if you have makeup or skincare from the day on your skin

  • Apply toner

  • OPTIONAL - apply a lightweight hydrating, peptide, or collagen serum. Then let it sit for 15-20 before applying facial tapes.

Skincare for after facial taping:

  • If you used the facial oil removal method like I did in this video, I suggest gently massaging the remaining oil into your skin. If it is daytime, apply SPF. If it is evening, leave your skin as is and start your skincare routine again in the morning.

  • Another option: remove any remaining facial oil with your facial toner and apply your serums, correctives, and moisturizer as you normally would.

  • If you use the warm water removal method for your facial tapes, you will apply your toner, serums, and moisturizer like you normally would.

scrub me secret: my favorite time to FaceTape is for a road trip or while I’m doing a day of chores around the house. in both of these scenarios, I’m by myself (or with just my loved ones) for a longer period of time. It’s like I’m adding an anti-aging element to my activity. And then I remove them after 3-5 hours and look refreshed!
