Summertime Moisturizer Recommendations!
Warm weather is here! In the midwest, we get a really big shift in our weather starting around May/June. Dry air becomes more humid and frigid temperatures warm up quite a bit; our skin no longer feels really dry and dehydrated. A moisturizer is a must-have product for your daily skincare routine. When we are in a hot, humid climate or weather that makes us super sweaty, a rich and thick moisturizer can feel too heavy on our skin. Even if your facial cream or lotion is made with non-pore clogging oils and hydrators it’s nice to switch to a lighter-weight, more breathable moisturizer for the summertime to ensure our pores are clear and breakout free. And don’t even think about leaving a moisturizer out of your skincare routine! Without a moisturizer dry skin will look dull, oily skin can become more oily, and sensitive/acneic skin types can become blotchy and unbalanced.
I love the feeling of applying something hydrating and lightweight to my skin underneath my daily SPF, it really makes my skin plump, healthy, and glowy. Below are my esthetician recommended products!
scrubmesecret: these are my recommendations for facial moisturizers that contain no SPF. that doesn’t mean you can skip your morning SPF application, you definitely need it! Your morning skincare routine should have a facial lotion, followed by sun protection cream. You also have the option to use a product that is a moisturizer with added SPF 30+. Read my blog post “Easy to reapply SPF” for some great product picks for summer sun protection.
All these products are ones I recommend because I truly like them and would recommend them to my facial clients. These are not paid ads or paid links.
scrub me secret: keep your glass skin water-gel moisturizer in the refrigerator for added calming effects. Applying this gel to your skin when it’s cold will help reduce redness even more. Such a nice thing to do when the weather is hot!
scrub me secret: Osea also makes some really premium hydrating and antioxidant infusing facial mists. Another great product to put in your fridge or skin fridge during summer. 💦
scrub me secret: Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Extract gives the supermello gel-cream a cookie-like scent. Some people love it and others really dislike it. I myself am really sensitive to artificial fragrances and perfumes and I find this scent to be really pleasing. Since it’s derived from real vanilla extract it doesn’t bother me at all.
