We thought a fun way to follow up our "Inner Wellness, Outer Beauty" blog would be with some delicious, vegan, healthy, smoothie recipes.  Our good friend The Chicago Vegan always has the best plant-based, vegan recipes.  We asked her to give us her three favorite smoothie recipes; surprisingly, all of them have ingredients that are healthy for your skin!

scrub me secret: our personal favorite was the matcha smoothie.  it tasted like a green tea latte!  let us know your favorite recipe in the comments section below.

Looking for an anti-aging, skin nourishing recipe?  Look no further!  This fun, tropical, green smoothie is packed full of vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, and antioxidants.  Spinach and hemp hearts provide a ton of vitamins and omegas which are essential for nourishing our cells and skin proteins like collagen and elastin.  Turmeric is a powerful antioxidant ingredient that helps the body fight signs of aging.  Mango, pineapple, and banana make this smoothie taste like a sweet, summery dessert without any added refined sugars.

scrub me secret: incorporating hemp hearts into your regular diet has been shown to aid in the relief of eczema or atopic dermatitis.  this ingredient is packed full of omega-3's and omega-6's that help soften and nourish skin.

This tasty, filling smoothie is amazing for our digestive health!  If you read our last blog we discussed how a healthy gut and digestive system is crucial when battling to clear up acne.  Another plus to this smoothie is its free of common acne causing allergens like gluten, lactose, and processed sugars.  Oats, chia seeds, and hemp hearts provide healthy carbs and fiber to our bodies to help our digestive system run correctly.  Banana, strawberries, and a touch of pure maple syrup provide natural sugars and extra nutrients.

scrub me secret: adding a plant-based protein powder (we like Vega protein powder in vanilla) to this smoothie recipe will make it the perfect meal on the go!  We know what we are making for breakfast tomorrow.

This smoothie is the absolute perfect afternoon pick me up!  With low calories, simple ingredients and a hearty dose of caffeine it's our new go to afternoon snack.  Spinach, hemp hearts, and matcha are all full of essential vitamins and nutrients that help your skin glow.  Adding this to your diet in replacement of a sugary drink or snack can significantly help your skin health and overall health.
